Holidays Are Nice, but Actions Speak Louder Than Words

It is with a heavy heart that we address the neglect and disregard faced by our brave military families and veterans when it comes to government support and access to care. These individuals, who have served on the front lines, risking their lives to protect our freedoms, often find themselves treated like second-class citizens. It is time for our actions to match our words and demand better for those who have sacrificed so much for us.

Holidays Are Nice, but Actions Speak Louder Than Words

The statistics paint a grim picture of the reality our military families and veterans face:

1️⃣ According to a report by the RAND Corporation, nearly 20% of military spouses experience chronic health conditions due to the stress and challenges they face. This not only affects their quality of life but also their ability to support their families. The toll on their physical and mental well-being should not be ignored.

2️⃣ The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reports that approximately 22 veterans die by suicide every day. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for improved mental health support and care for our veterans. We must do better to address their emotional well-being and provide them with the assistance they need.

3️⃣ A study conducted by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) revealed that many veterans face significant delays and challenges in accessing healthcare services through the VA system. This leads to prolonged suffering and worsened health outcomes. Our veterans should not have to fight for the care they deserve; it should be readily available to them.

It is high time we prioritize the well-being and support of our military families and veterans. They have dedicated their lives to protect us, and it is our duty to ensure they receive the care they need and have access to the necessary resources.

This July, let’s transform our empathy into action and stand up for those who have served our country. Together, we can create a society that truly honors their sacrifices.
